CloseCabbage Seeds - Pak Choi - Shanghai. Heirloom, Non-GMO. Annual. Brassica rapa Chinensis group. 10-15 days microgreens; 20-30 days baby leaf; 45 days full maturity. Cool-warm season. This green stem variety is very popular in South China. It has an attractive hourglass shape with glossy, dark green leaves, and thick petioles that are tender and very delicious. It is high yielding and known for its heat tolerance. ~ 6,000 seeds per oz.
Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in spring after last frost to early summer or late summer/early fall. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Optimum growing temperatures are in the 60s°F. Exposure to frost or prolonged temperatures below 50°F may result in bolting. Mulch fall crops to avoid premature bolting. Harvest when about 8-10" tall. Can be steamed, stir-fried, and braised. Use in soups, for ohitashi, and pickles.
