DESCRIPTION
Scientific Name: Neoseiulus fallacis
FALLACIS are recognized by eight legs, and a pear-shaped body with brownish red hues depending on its diet. As a generalist predator, FALLACIS target a wide spectrum of spider mite species, including two-spotted spider mites and rust mites. Great for northern climates, these predatory mites thrive in cooler conditions and can survive over winter by tucking into plant crevices until temperatures are favorable again. Females lay spherical, transparent eggs on the underside of leaves near pest populations. In optimal temperatures, eggs will hatch into larvae exhibiting three pairs of legs within 3-4 days. Over the course of two nymphal stages, they gradually develop four pairs of legs and progressively target larger sizes of spider mite nymphs, until they become fully formed adults. Adult predator mites spend their 30-day lifespan consuming large numbers of spider mites in all life stages.

It's important to note that these release rates serve as general guidelines and may vary based on the specific pest species, the crop or plant being treated, and level of infestation. Proper monitoring of the infestation and the subsequent effectiveness of the released beneficial insect population is crucial for determining the success of the biological control strategy.

Pesticides, even wetting agents, and spreader-stickers may adversely affect beneficial insects' survival. Broad spectrum and systemic insecticides are toxic.
